Sarah Haider Design
London, England
Sarah is an industrial designer and ceramicist from Hong Kong. After completing her BFA in Studio Arts at NYU, where she developed a custom furniture series, Sarah ventured into a career in ceramics and lamp production in New York, all while developing her independent practice and style. Sarah’s seal can be found across her work – stamped on the base of her mugs, softly painted on towering and striped edison-bulb lamps, and burned into copper legs of modern-industrial coffee tables. Now based in London, Sarah is producing her own collection of ceramic goods, but her body of work showcases her appreciation for mixed materiality and a unique and tactile sense of functionality.
The concept for Sarah’s logo centers on her fixation on materiality – exploring the transformation from a physical wax seal on paper into a trade stamp on digital surfaces. Like her work, Sarah’s identity draws inspiration from the sharpness and muted color tones of an urban landscape. She has been greatly influenced by the German principle Gesamtkustwerk – artwork that unifies multiple art forms – because of this, scanned surfaces of Sarah’s materiality ranging from clay to sheet metal to cotton make up the digital landscape of the webpages.
